Avoid getting a "nit-picky" inspection report. Tip #5

As mentioned in some of my other tips, conducive conditions for wood destroying organisms (carpenter ants, termites, some beetles and wood rot) are not only a requirement in WA state for inspectors to report on but most conditions are very easy to maintain.  Take a quick peak in the crawl space and around the house near the foundation.  Do you see any cellulose debris (any wood or wood byproduct like cardboard)?  Whether it's small pieces of 2x4 left over from construction, firewood up against the siding or pieces of cardboard, they all can attract wood destroying organisms.  Follow this very simple tip and avoid another "nit-picky" item on the inspection report!

Kevin - what were they running in that flex?  Nice crawl and I applaud you for going in there.  Did you where the deep diving suit with the big bell helmut?

LOL.  It's actually not my picture.  I searched my pics and couldn't find one as good as this.  However, I also applaud the guy who took it.

Yikes!  scary crawl space!

My builder covered over a bunch of debris with the vapor barrier.  Found this out when I was walking the crawl space (its a VERY TALL craw space) with a plumber.

Do I need to roll back the vapor barrier and pick out all of that stuff?  (lions and tigers and spiders oh my!)

I'm lucky that it's pretty dry down here, although I do like to go swimming. Perhaps not there, though.

I like how you call it nitpicky but are willing to help educate people and show them how they can avoid such nitpickiness.

Jim-Thanks.  My goal is to educate that what most think is "nit-picky" I am required to report on and therefore am trying to educate on how people can easily avoid seeing these "required", "nit-picky" items on the report.
